DOWN UNDER TURN AROUND 1999 THREE DAYS & NIGHTS OF WOODTURNING DOWN UNDER Victoria's Phillip Island is noted for its Fairy Penguins, the Motorcycle Grand Prix and Turn Around Down Under (it's not really noted for Turnaround Down Under but it could be some day). !999 was the third time this fantastic woodturning experience has been run. Over one hundred woodturning fanatics converged on the Island with one thing in mind, making lots of shavings whilst having a ball. This year woodturners from as far away as USA, New Zealand also attended along with Aussies from Vic. SA. & NSW. Thirty five lathes were kept running almost continuously from midday Friday until midday Sunday. Some of the images and maybe a bit of a feeling for the fun of this brilliant weekend can be seen here. But the only way to really experience a weekend like this is to be there in person.
